1. Introduction
Welcome to W Alarm ("we," "our," or "the App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring
the security of your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and
protect your data when you use our alarm clock application. W Alarm does not create user accounts and
does not require personal information such as name, email address, or phone number.
Privacy-First Approach: W Alarm is designed with privacy as a core principle. We
collect only the minimum data necessary to provide alarm functionality and NFC tag verification. We
do not use analytics, tracking, or advertising services.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Data Stored Locally on Your Device
The following information is stored exclusively on your device and is never transmitted to our servers:
- Alarm Settings: Alarm times, repeat schedules, and alarm configurations.
- User Notes: Personal notes and reminders you create within the app.
- App Settings: Your preferences including theme mode, notification settings, and
other customization options.
- Voice Recordings: Optional voice recordings you create for alarm personalization
(stored locally only).
- NFC Tag UID: Stored securely on your device using platform secure storage.
2.2 Data Transmitted to Our Servers
We only transmit data to our servers in the following limited scenario:
- NFC Tag Verification (One-Time): When you pair an NFC tag with the app, we send the
tag's unique identifier (UID) to our verification server (powered by Supabase) to verify it is an
authentic W Alarm tag. This is a one-time verification process during initial pairing.
2.3 Device Permissions
The app requests the following permissions to function properly:
- NFC: To read NFC tags for alarm dismissal.
- Notifications: To display alarm notifications and alerts.
- Microphone (Optional): To record custom voice alarms.
- Audio Playback: To play alarm sounds even when the device is locked.
- Haptic Feedback: To provide vibration during alarms.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information solely for the following purposes:
- Alarm Functionality: To schedule, trigger, and manage your alarms.
- NFC Tag Verification: To verify the authenticity of NFC tags during the pairing
process.
- App Personalization: To save your preferences and settings.
- Local Features: To provide notes, voice recordings, and other personalization
features.
We do NOT:
- Sell, rent, or share your data with third parties.
- Use your data for advertising or marketing purposes.
- Track your usage patterns or behavior.
- Collect analytics or telemetry data.
- Access your contacts, photos, or other personal files.
4. Data Storage and Security
4.1 Local Storage
Most of your data is stored locally on your device using:
- AsyncStorage: For general app settings and non-sensitive data.
- Encrypted Storage: For sensitive data like NFC tag UIDs, using:
- iOS: Keychain Services with hardware-backed encryption.
- Android: EncryptedSharedPreferences with AES-256 encryption.
4.2 Server Storage
Our verification server (Supabase) stores:
- NFC tag UIDs in a secure database
- Pairing status to prevent tag reuse
All server communications use HTTPS encryption. We implement industry-standard security measures to
protect data in transit and at rest.
4.3 Data Retention
- Local Data: Remains on your device until you delete the app or manually clear app
data.
- Server Data: NFC tag verification records are retained indefinitely to maintain tag
pairing integrity.
5. Third-Party Services
W Alarm uses the following third-party service:
5.1 Supabase
Purpose: Backend infrastructure for NFC tag verification
Data Shared: NFC tag UIDs only (during pairing)
Privacy Policy: https://supabase.com/privacy
We do not use any analytics, advertising, or tracking services such as Google Analytics, Facebook SDK, or
similar tools.
6. Internet Connectivity
The app checks for internet connectivity only when:
- Pairing a new NFC tag (to verify authenticity)
The app functions fully offline after initial tag pairing. No background data transmission occurs.
7. Children's Privacy
W Alarm does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age. The app is
designed for general audiences and does not contain age-restricted content.
8. Your Rights and Choices
You have the following rights regarding your data:
- Access: All your data is stored locally on your device and accessible through the
app.
- Deletion: You can delete all local data by uninstalling the app or clearing app
data in device settings.
- Portability: Your data is stored in standard formats on your device.
9. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may disclose information
only in the following circumstances:
- Legal Compliance: If required by law, court order, or government regulation
- Protection of Rights: To protect our rights, property, or safety, or that of our
users
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by:
- Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy.
- Providing an in-app notification for significant changes.
Your continued use of the app after changes indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
11. International Users
W Alarm is available globally. If you are located outside your country of residence, please note that
your data may be stored on servers in different locations. We ensure all data transfers comply with
applicable data protection laws.
12. Data Security Measures
